so, What is the Konmari Method™?
The KonMari Method™ is a system of self-reflection that uses the act of “tidying” as a window into the life you truly want to be living. It is a process that allows you to confront every single “thing” you own, making a decision about that thing by using the “joy check” (asking yourself if that item Sparks Joy). It is estimated that the average person owns 20 000 things. One explanation for why the KonMari Method™ works so well is that you are able to hone your intuition after making 20 000 gut-based decisions, which allows you to follow your intuition better in the other decisions you’ll make in your life.
In short – you will result in a clear & open home, learn how to take better care of your belongings, and learn a lot about your own values in the process.

What to Expect
Your Initial Consultation
We can begin with a phone consultation or in-home visit.
With a phone conversation, I will aim to get to know you and your space, and you’ll have the opportunity to ask me questions about the KonMari Method™ and what it will be like to work with a consultant.
Depending on your location, I may require a $75 deposit for an in-home visit. During this visit we can take a tour of the home, and do a small visioning exercise that will help you to imagine your ideal life that we will be working towards. If you choose a phone consultation, we can do this at the beginning of your first session.
Your First Session: Clothing
During your first session, we will tackle the first category of the KonMari Method™: Your clothes.
The best way to prepare for this session is to:
- Gather clothes from your car, the office, the gym, and that unpacked box in the basement.
- Do a load of laundry (no need to fold them.)
- Wear an outfit that Sparks Joy and will be comfortable to work in.
This session will take between 4 – 6 hours, depending on the amount of clothes you have. If there are very many and we do not have time to tackle them all, I will ensure you learn the skills you’ll need to ensure you can get through the rest as homework.
The following Sessions
All other sessions are between 4 – 5 hours, depending on progress and the lesson content we are able to cover.
I will provide an estimation of how many sessions I expect you will need based on the size of your home, scope of your belongings, your own attitude towards tidying, and your family situation. In some situations, clients will require fewer or more lessons than originally quoted. Homework will be suggested between sessions that will help clients to move through the process in fewer sessions.
We will follow the recommended tidying order of the KonMari Method™, which is to tackle belongings in the order of Clothes, Books, Papers, Komono (Miscellaneous), Sentimental. I’ll provide a more detailed check list that we can follow along to track progress.
